The Untold Story

In October 1955, this small trading ship, the Joyita, left Samoa for what should have been a routine forty-one hour trip - carrying twenty five people, including a doctor rushing to perform emergency surgery.

She never arrived. A search covered a hundred thousand square miles of ocean and found nothing. Five weeks later, another ship’s captain spotted her, six hundred miles off course, half-sunk and completely empty.

Every life raft was gone. The clocks had stopped at ten twenty five. And a doctor’s bag lay on deck with bloodstained bandages inside - but not one person, alive or dead, was ever found.

The ship itself was barely damaged. Once the water was pumped out, it floated just fine. To this day, no one knows what happened to the twenty five people who left it behind.
